Using BitRecover PST Converter Wizard + EmailConverter (EML to PDF) (macOS)
These are instructions for accessing and using BitRecover PST Converter Wizard + EmailConverter (EML to PDF) Applications on macOS.
1. (One time setup) - Install and configure the 'Windows App' application, using these instructions: How To: Use Microsoft Windows App to access PSD-curated Windows Applications from macOS
2. After following that Solutions Article and setting up the Windows App, it should now look like below after clicking on the 'Apps' tab on the left-hand side:
3. Simply double-click the Converter you would like to use. It will launch a new Window. You may have to click 'Ok' on PSD's Acceptable Use Policy banner message. You may have to wait a few seconds before the application loads.
Start with the PST Converter Wizard. After loading, it will look like below:
4. Choose 'Let me select my Outlook mailbox data' then 'Select Files...'
5. You will need to navigate to your macOS Desktop (this is why we enabled 'Folder Redirection in Step #1's Solution Article).
First, click on 'This PC'. Then, right below 'Local Disk' you should see 'Desktop on _______' - this is your macOS and what you want to select. Yours will show a different name, as that is the name of your computer. Double-click on 'Desktop on ______'
6. This assumes you have saved the .pst you need converting to your Desktop (on your macOS computer). For example purposes, I made a folder on my macOS Desktop called 'Sample PST File' and placed a .pst file in there.
Navigate to where you have saved the .pst file you want to convert. Again, it should be on your macOS Desktop. The file path in the program should look like This PC > Desktop on ______ > Folder containing .pst file on your macOS Desktop.
Double click on the .pst file needing to be converted:
7. It should now look like below, click Next:
8. The program will now analyze the .pst file to see what all it contains. Select what you want converted, or choose the entire .pst file at the top, then click Next
In the example below, I have selected the entire .pst file so all contents will get converted:
9. Select what type of output files you would like. Typically EML is selected here.
10. Choose a destination path where the converted EML files will go to. Similar to the previous step of selecting the .pst file, you will need to click on 'This PC' to see 'Desktop on ____' and browse to your macOS Desktop.
In this example, I'm choosing the converted EML files to go into the same 'Sample PST File'. Browse to the folder you want, then click 'Select Folder'
11. It should now look like below. Note: The program will automatically create a new folder with the date and time you're doing the export. Click Next:
12. Click Convert and it will start the conversion process:
13. If all went well, you will see a notification that the conversion was successful:
14. You can now minimize or exit the program and go to your Desktop where you told the program to output the converted files. You should see a new folder with today's date and time:
15. If you browse inside of that folder, you will see the structure of the converted .pst file:
16. If you navigate into the Inbox folder for example, you should see your .eml files:
17. The above location is where you would then want to select in EmailConverter (EML to PDF).
18. Now, launch EmailConverter (EML to PDF) by double-clicking on it:
19. After a few seconds, it will load and look like this. Click Add Folder:
20. In the window that opens, click on This PC and then double-click on Desktop on _______ (the blank will be the name of your computer which varies)
21. Then navigate to where you had the PST > EML conversion get saved to, and click Open
22. You will see the application scan that folder and load all of the EML files that need to be converted to PDF's.
If you need attachments extracted, check both boxes for attachments.
Click Start Conversion
23. It will begin the conversion process and say Conversion finished after it has been completed. At this point, you can exit the Email to PSD Converter application if done converting.
24. Go back to your macOS Desktop where the folder with the conversions is. If you navigate inside, into the PST that was converted, you will see all the EML's that got converted to PDF's in each subfolder of the converted PST:
25. You can now go through and view Emails, etc in .pdf format. Sample example from the folder above (this is what an individual .eml converted to .pdf will look like):
