Students - Signing into 1:1 iPad & Signing into Managed Apple ID (MAID)
Student Sign-in:
Students must to sign into their 1:1 PSD-issued (non-shared) iPad.
Note: If the iPad changes hands (e.g. a Student leaves the district and the iPad is given to different Student) - the iPad must be erased and enrolled again as the next Student who is using it. After that is complete, the Managed Apple ID Sign-in is optional, but when setup correctly will give the teacher management and remote control capabilities over Students iPads using Apple Classroom as per: https://psd401.freshservice.com/support/solutions/articles/6000040832
Initial sign-in / MDM Enrollment (associates the iPad with the Student in our management system)
A freshly wiped or brand new iPad when powered on will show an initial login screen that says:
Please enter your Peninsula School District Username and Password:
Each Student should enter their Username (no email) and Password. This will log them into the iPad and apps will start loading.
This will associate the iPad with the Student in our management system so that Securly associates internet activity with them.
Note: When iPads are changing hands, they must be erased and enrolled as the new Student that will be using it.
Managed Apple ID (MAID) Sign-in (Only required if Teacher is utilizing Apple Classroom to manage iPads).
In order for Apple Classroom to function, the Student will need to sign into the iPad with their Managed Apple ID (MAID).
1. On the freshly-issued Student iPad, launch 'Settings':
2. Ensure the 'General' tab is selected, then tap on 'Sign in to your iPad...'
3. Tap on 'Sign in Manually'
4. Enter the Students full email - studentnumber@edtools.psd401.net - and continue:
5. After entering the Students ID number and proceeding, you should see a screen that says 'Apple ID for Peninsula School District 401' - tap Continue:
6. A ClassLink login page should now appear. Enter the Students ID (not full email) + password, MFA picture or code, then proceed:
7. After authenticating through ClassLink, there will be a prompt to choose an account. Select the Students account (should only be one option):
8. At the confirmation screen, simply tap 'Continue':
9. At this point, it may take a minute or two to sign the Student in.
The screen will look like below:
10. The Student should now be fully signed into their 1:1 iPad with their PSD Managed Apple ID.
